Dinnertime Storytelling Prompts #137-140

By Jennifer L. Davidson

Whether you dream of becoming a poet, chef, or professional dancer, one thing is certain: you'll encounter plenty of bumps along the way. Help decide the fate of these characters. Do they meet their goal, or are they guided down a different path?

For more instructions, refer to the Getting Started post.

#137 - Becoming a bestselling author was Jenny’s ultimate goal, and she wasn’t about to let anyone stand in her way. Not even Stephen Kang who reluctantly read her horror story and blasted it with red ink. He suggested she rewrite the story to include a headless ghost who rides his bike past the main character’s house every sunset. Does Jenny use Stephen Kang’s suggestion? Does it make her story better? Because of the suggestion, does she become a bestselling author? If so, how does this change her life? If not, what does she do instead?

#138 - Lucas put on his dad’s firefighter jacket and looked in the full-length mirror hanging on the back of his sister’s door. He looked a lot like his dad. Too bad his dad wasn’t here to see the resemblance. It was two years ago today that he went up in flames trying to save an older couple who couldn’t get out of their home in time. How does Lucas celebrate or mourn his dad today? How is the rest of his family coping? Does he want to follow in his dad’s footsteps?

#139 - Hard. Soft. Over-easy. Scrambled. Sophia had to cook eggs expertly to earn her way to the next challenge during Next Teen Chef America. She wanted to win for the notoriety, of course, but also because she could use the $10,000 prize money. Does Sophia cook her eggs well enough to move on to the next challenge? What will she buy with the prize money? If she doesn’t win, what are her future plans?

#140 - Parker was an all-star basketball player at his middle school, but what he kept secret from everyone was that he was a pretty good dancer too. He practiced every night in his room before going to bed. His secret came to an abrupt end, though, when his little brother recorded him one night and shared the video on his Instagram page. How do people react to seeing Parker dance? Does Parker get back at his little brother? How does this change Parker’s life?
