Dinnertime Storytelling Prompts #141-144

It's back-to-school time, which means more nonfiction reading and writing. But it does not mean you have to stop creating fantastical worlds in your free time. Make time for both! Just like I make time to eat cookies and cake! Why choose one over the other when you don't have to.

For more instructions, refer to the Getting Started post.

#141 - A new grade. A new school. Another year of making new friends. Zoe wasn't worried this time, though. Her Uncle Joe, who was a magician, gave her a magic wand and taught her a trick that he promised every kid would love. Zoe waited until the second day of school to give it try. But the trick didn't go exactly as planned. Instead of hypnotizing her classmates to talk like robots, they all turned into robots! What kind of magic wand did her uncle give her? Is her teacher a robot too? What does Zoe do to try to fix the problem? Does she call her uncle? How do the students get back to normal?

#142 - Trevell was excited for his first day of school because it meant riding the school bus with friends he hadn't seen during the summer. But when the bus stopped in front of his house, none of his friends were on the bus. In fact, he didn't recognize anybody peering at him through the windows. It's because they were all aliens! Did Trevell get on the bus? Why was the bus filled with aliens? Where were Trevell's friends? How does Trevell help solve the mystery?

#143 - Lily sat down at her desk and glanced around the classroom at all the smiling faces, well, all except the new girl, Sasha, who looked like she wanted to cry. So, Lily tore out a piece of notebook paper, wrote down some words, and then crumpled up the paper and tossed it into Sasha's lap. What did Lily write on the note? How does the Sasha respond? Do the girls form a friendship? If they become friends, what do they like to do together?

#144 - Alex couldn't wait for the first day of school to be over because his mom promised to make him a special treat when he got home. But when he got home, his mom wasn't there. She had instead left him a note that read, "Meet me at our favorite place, where the path meets the pond, and the yellow birds sing." Alex loved scavenger hunts! He hopped on his bike and rode to their favorite spot where he found another note. What did this note say? What do the notes after that say? What is Alex's surprise at the end?
