Dinnertime Storytelling Prompts: Get Started!

Is your dinnertime conversation lacking? Do you ask the same questions night after night only to get the same responses from your kids?

"How was school?"

"Fine."

"Anything fun happen?"

"No."

"Did you learn anything?"

<Eye roll>

Ready to try something new? Throw out one of our Dinnertime Storytelling Prompts and see what happens! It can be fun and entertaining, and you might learn something new about your kids (and spouse!). If anything, you'll hear how their imaginations take them to completely different places. One kid might see the darker side of things, while another is still chasing rainbows and unicorns. The third one might sit and take it all in and then all of a sudden sputter out a thought combining the others' ideas. Or he might say something completely unexpected and blow your mind. Be ready!

Here's how it works:

1. Sit down for a family dinner.

2. Read one of our Dinnertime Storytelling Prompts. (And then promptly put your phone away!)

3. Go around the table taking turns to create a one-of-a-kind story.

Let there be twists and turns! Back up and start over! Change something from the prompt and follow a new path! JUST BE CREATIVE!

Dinnertime Storytelling Prompt #1

A girl with a superpower is in a plane that's about to crash. Discuss what her superpower is and how she can stop the plane from it's fated ending? Or...is she the one causing it to go down?
