Interview with Rachel Schieffelbein
Rachel Schieffelbein is the author of Don't Fall, Secondary Characters, and Seeing Red
When did you first know you wanted to be an author?
I’ve always enjoyed writing, and looked for any excuse to write, but I never thought about being an author when I was young. It wasn’t until I had kids of my own that I started writing with any intention of trying to get published.
What inspires you to write?
I think once you start writing you discover inspiration all over the place. It’s always there, it’s more about learning to recognize it.
What advice can you give to a young writer?
Write a lot, and read a lot. I think that’s the best advice you can give anyone who wants to write. That and be patient. It takes time to develop any skill. Stick with it and celebrate small achievements along the way.
